Triassic Thecodonts Looked Like Modern Crocodilians
Modern
diapsid crocodilians are almost anatomically identical to the Triassic
period thecodonts. Thecodonts are the ancestors of modern diapsid
crocodilians, pterosaurs and dinosaurs. If you could bring the Triassic
thecodont Postosuchus to the present, you would probably say that it
was a crocodile but it was an unusual looking one. Modern crocodilians
have not changed very much from Triassic thecodonts and are essentially
different species of thecodonts.
